As a Senior Project Manager, you will do much more than just lead our myriad projects over the line. You’ll be a central cog within our delivery team which makes our events so effective and so special. Inquisitive, customer-centric with high attention to detail, personable, deadline driven with the ability to command a room. You’ll be that special blend of technically minded, socially-adept, highly organised with the ability to multi-task when working on several different projects across a variety of accounts.
You’ll be joining a dedicated team who are passionate about events. Within this team you will be responsible for leading our large-scale projects end-to-end.
Role & Responsibilities – Project Delivery
- End to end project management including client liaison, project planning, budget management, supplier management and management of internal resource
- Leading on a number of diverse and complex projects including conferences, incentive programmes, road shows, exhibitions, and summits
- Multi-currency budget creation, ownership, and reconciliation of up to £6M
- Management of project cashflow via our internal systems and securing client approvals, issuing purchase orders and invoices.
- Directing all team members responsible for contributing to the event delivery, ensuring the solution meets the client brief and objectives
- Collaborating with our Digital Team to ensure best use of product and delegate management standards are met
- Ensuring that all client projects meet operational excellence standards, ISO and profitability targets set by the business
- Managing supply chain partners to ensure the highest standards of service/product delivery at the best negotiated price
- Understanding and managing H&S obligations for project delivery
- Initiating new business, upselling opportunities, and identifying gaps in our delivery model.
- Contributing to the delivery response on new business proposals and pitches
- Being a role model and positive influence for the junior members of the department by demonstrating and promoting best practice and implementing process
- Leading company initiatives and tasks as required or requested by the Leadership Team.
Role & Responsibilities – Line Management
- Line managing a minimum of two junior employees, hosting weekly 1-2-1’s, approving credit cards and holiday requests
- Responsible for the success of your direct reports by supporting and guiding them through their projects and workloads
- Collaborating with Head of Project Operations to create clear development paths for your direct reports, building on the individual strengths and driving them forward to meet their objectives
- Contributing to project resource planning by monitoring your teams’ workloads and suggesting effective project delivery solutions.
About You
- A strong track-record of Project Management and, specifically, experience in managing various projects and managing cumulative event budgets of all sizes including and in excess of £2M
- An interest and appreciation for event production and an understanding of the technical and creative elements of delivery
- Exceptional project management skills and a strong business acumen are essential as is attention to detail, the drive to deliver continuous improvement and a commitment to outstanding quality of delivery
- Excellent understanding of all event disciplines including delegate management, technical production, exhibition build, digital and video production, print production
- Proven financial acumen with the ability to manage third party suppliers, negotiate and grow project profitability
- Confident and familiar with building and managing delegate management systems and the understanding of digital products
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills both internally and client facing
- Agile and adaptive with the resilience and stamina to sustain performance under pressure
- Independent worker with the ability to self-prioritise workload according to the business needs and excellent time management skills.
- Highly collaborative ability to build trust with colleagues, clients and suppliers and positively influence others
- Proven experience of working with CRM’s and/or Finance Tools such as Salesforce or Access
- Logical and technically savvy with the ability to pick up new systems and/or processes quickly
- Good level of computer literacy, particularly the Microsoft Package
- Ability to work on the here and now but have the oversight to plan ahead
- Excellent people management skills with proven ability in leading and motivating delivery teams
- Line Management experience and the ability to lead and develop a high performing team.
