We exhibited at the show alongside 80+ companies blazing a trail for sustainability in events.

Live Group were delighted in November to be invited to exhibit at the Sustainable Events Show. The reduction of both our own carbon footprint, and developing technologies and processes for use industry-wide to help reach carbon zero, are causes central to Live Group’s approach. As such, it was exciting to be recognised beside so many other companies working towards the same goal.

The Sustainable Events Show is a one-day exhibition that creates the platform to build relations with likeminded parties – an opportunity Live Group made full use of with our meet-and-greet stand. Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us about the actions we are taking internally, and our ESG rollout for 2022 and beyond.

The event also gave us a snapshot of the efforts being made by the industry on the issue of sustainability. This included profiles on 80 environmentally-friendly event venues, event services suppliers, and event technology companies that practice sustainability.

The view from our stand, looking out at these aspirational and ingenious companies, was an encouraging one – but there is still much left to do if we are to reach carbon zero.

To impart Live Group’s sustainability vision for the future, our CEO Toby Lewis was invited to sit on the SES21 panel, fielding questions from the audience and conveying the necessity for grassroots change in how the industry approaches the issue:

“Travel emissions, energy consumption and waste production are all ESG strikes against the industry which cause a significant negative environmental impact. The recent turn to virtual and hybrid events, which has familiarised audiences with these formats, marks a sea change for the events industry in terms of sustainability priorities, and it is critical that we don’t revert to old habits. The result will be stronger ESG policies across the industry and a smaller carbon footprint.”

The Sustainable Events Show brought forces for good together, alongside an educational agenda about the state of sustainability in our industry. As a result, we think the impact of the event will ripple out for years to come, as relationships within the walls of the Barbican bring new ESG initiatives to life.
