Introduction

GTC Teacher Learning Academy National Conference
International Convention Centre (ICC), Birmingham
9am arrival, 10.00am start, 4.00pm finish on Tuesday 4 March 2008

The GTC’s Teacher Learning Academy (TLA) national conference in Birmingham is a major national event in one of Britain’s premier conference venues. The TLA conference will inspire and support schools, in particular those that are interested in becoming a ‘badged’ TLA centre or school.

At the conference, we will unveil our practical ‘how to’ guides that show how to get the best results for your school from the TLA. You will learn about the variety of routes that schools and teachers can take into the TLA, find out what you need to do next specific to your own context, and see what difference the TLA can make to your school’s development.

As a result, you will be able to make progress in becoming a TLA centre or school and align your school’s performance management and related processes with the potential of the TLA itself.

The TLA will now be developed into a wider partnership-based national system that will extend opportunities for GTC-registered teachers to gain professional recognition. The TLA will in effect move to shared ownership through a system of national, local and school partnerships across the education system.
