NCSL OBC Partnership Programme Conference
8th & 9th December 2008
Novotel London West, Hammersmith

Please visit the workshops page to view the presentations from each session.

Our environment is central to how we learn. Currently we have an opportunity to redefine the spaces in which we learn, both physical and virtual, and to examine what we want our schools to be in the future. We need to ensure that any new setup, in terms of both buildings and infrastructure, will fulfil learners’ needs now and in the future by using new technologies and practices which engage learners.

Image This conference is a two day event where LAs in the programme come together, giving leaders the opportunity to collaborate and share emerging practice.   Both days are centred around thirty different workshops where experts and practitioners share their knowledge and experience.  The workshops are grouped into several strands which cover leadership, design, technology, sustainability, pedagogy and innovation, community and extended schools.

NCSL OBC Partnership Programme Conference 2008

1. Who can attend?

The programme recognises the role of the LA in creating a vision and that the partnership between the LA and school leaders is key in achieving this vision.  The NCSL OBC Partnership Programme is available to:

  • Headteachers and senior leaders, including deputy and assistant headteachers, heads of departments, governors and bursars
  • Representatives from BSF and school improvement teams at the LA.

To get the most out of the workshops over the two days it is important that teams from schools attend.  The programme provides delegates with the opportunity to work with colleagues from their own LAs and network with other LAs.

2. Content of the conference

With structured debates and workshops in addition to a mixture of keynotes and case studies the OBC Partnership Programme conference aims to:

  • Support school BSF leadership teams and LAs in implementing a change management plan required to achieve step change and value added through BSF
  • Provide school BSF leadership teams and LAs with access to a range of national and international expertise, tools and guidance to support them in delivering change through BSF
  • Provide a platform on which specialist information and advice on BSF processes from professional associations, national organisations and other school leaders  can be shared

The format of the OBC conference will be similar to Phase three of the BSF Leadership Programme  and to give you a flavour of the two days please visit the link below for the Harrogate Phase three event which took place in March 2008.
